‘Sarada School of Nursing’ instituted in the name of  Sri Sarada Devi, the Divine Consort of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, started in 1962 with 15 ANM students and is accredited by Indian Nursing Council (INC). The GNM course was introduced in 1978. The annual intake of the students is 25 and is solely based on merit. From January 2005 onwards, as per the instruction of INC, the duration of the course was extended to 3 ½ years - with 3 years GNM and 6 months internship.

The Principal of the school is assisted by a Vice-Principal and 8 tutors / clinical instructors. The doctors of the hospital take classes for the students in the fields of ENT, Opthalmology, Orthopaedics, General Medicine and Surgery. Students are posted in wards on rotation for their clinical experience. To improve their skills in spoken English and computer literacy, special classes are being conducted.

          Apart from various educational visits to other hospitals, etc. they also participate in Pulse Polio Campaign and industrial visits to, for example, water purification plant, diary farm, sewage disposal plant, etc.

          As a part of  Community Training the students visit various urban and rural areas, to impart family-health awareness and educate the people regarding precautions to be taken against spread of epidemic diseases, etc.
