Course Period: 3 ½ Years
Eligibility: Candidates desirious of becoming Student Nurses should satisfy the following general requirements: a) Residence:- Should be a resident of Kerala State. b) Academic qualification:- A pass in Plus Two examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as Optional Subjects (with minimum 45% marks for non-SC/ST). c) Should not be less than 17 years or more than 27 years as on the 1st day of June of the year in which applications are called for (upper age limit will be relaxed upto 5 & 3 years respectively for SC/ST and BC)
How to apply: Application for admission should be made in the prescribed form in duplicate. Original should be submitted duly filled and with all enclosures to the Adhyaksha, SRKAC Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram – 10 and duplicate duly filled and with all enclosures to the Registrar, Kerala Nurses’ & Midwives’ Council. Red Cross Road, Thiruvananthapuram – 37. Documents listed below should be forwarded together with the application form duly signed and filled in the candidates’s own handwriting. a) Attested photo copies of the marks list & pass certificate. b) SSLC or equivalent certificate to prove date of birth. (Attested photo copy) c) Two conduct certificates: One from the head of the institution from which the candidate has passed out and the other form a respectable person of the locality not related to the applicant – with seal. (Attested photo copies) d) If belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe or backward community, certificate from Tahasildar to that effect.
Admission: Interview and selection of the candidates will be done by a Selection Board.
Selection: Based on Plus Two marks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology and interview marks, subject to physical and medical fitness, which will be tested in the hospital. Selected candidates shall submit two passport size photos and will be on probation for a period of three months, at the end of which there will be an examination. Only successful candidates will be admitted to the regular course. Entire expenses of the course will have to be borne by the candidate. No waiting list candidate will be admitted to the course after October 31st.
Medical Examination: Selected candidates will have to undergo a detailed Medical Examination and will be admitted to the course only on being found fit.
List of candidates selected for interview will generally be put up on the hospital notice board within a few days after the last date for receipt of applications. Enquiries regarding the same may be made thereafter by phone or otherwise. Candidates selected for interview will be informed by post.
Soon after interview list is put up, candidates should check the minimum marks for interview call and inform immediately, by phone or otherwise, if their names have been a left out by oversight. |
